Church sponsorship

We invite your church to sponsor a refugee or refugee family. Sponsoring churches provide for the basic needs of the refugees: food, housing, clothing, transportation to and from appointments, orientation to the community, etc. Sponsoring churches also assist the refugees in learning English. Sponsorship is a moral challenge - not a legal commitment. Help can be given by women's groups, men's groups, youth groups, Sunday School or Bible classes.
How can a local church assist the refugees in this country?
- Be a welcoming circle of friends to help refugees overcome loneliness.
- Recruit mentors, to assist with the adjustment to America by helping refugees get through the change, challenges, and stresses.
- Be supportive as the refugees progress towards self-sufficiency and independence:
- Assist with housing costs.
- Collect furniture and housing items.
- Offer monetary donations for everyday living expenses.

Reasons Why Your Church Should Sponsor Refugees:
- Do it because it will bring you together. The best fellowship comes when you reach out to help others in need.
- Do it because you will experience great joy in learning about life and culture in other parts of the world, bridging the gap in the global community.
- Do it for your church's youth. Give them an opportunity to get involved and to touch real human needs.
- Do it for your spiritual growth. God speaks through the voice of those in need and you will experience a new sense of inspiration for you own life.
